Far too many Americans—uninsured and under-insured—already know the terrible realities the filmmakers and our partners will be sharing all across the nation through screenings of Do No Harm, panel discussions and community events. Among those realities: many non-profit hospitals and other non-profit healthcare providers claim huge tax breaks in the billions of dollars from their non-profit status while devastating the financial standing of the patients upon whom their preferred tax status rests. Aggressive bill collection, extensive overbilling and other bottom-line protective business practices are damaging millions of patients and their families and leaving financial scars and life-changing tragedy behind in communities all across America.
Join our film's producers, directors and subjects and our
national partners at an event in your community and become one
of our local partners standing for healthcare justice.

"Do No Harm is a must see for anyone concerned with excessive health care costs or accountability. It exposes the lack of a rational pricing system or transparency in hospital billing and collection practices. In the current economic environment, American tax payers need assurances that tax-exempt hospitals are, in fact, doing no harm especially for patients who are uninsured or underinsured. This riveting account of excessive practices at one non-profit hospital in Georgia is sure to inspire people to take action and demand more oversight and accountability from hospitals that are receiving federal funding to meet community need. Do No Harm could not be more timely; the national health care reform law includes provisions requiring hospitals to conduct community needs assessment, establish and provide information on charity care policies, limit patient charges and establish reasonable collection practices. This film can serve to mobilize families and policymakers across the nation who are committed to a more just health care system."

The
Access Project (TAP)
The Access Project is nationally recognized for groundbreaking
work on medical debt and the financial burden of health care
costs. TAP collaborates with consumer organizations, hospital
and health systems, community health centers, public agencies,
foundation and other stakeholders. Recent achievements include:
successfully resolving medical debt for individuals and
families; publishing research reports related to adequacy and
affordability of health insurance; testifying at the
Congressional and state legislative levels; and working closely
with the media to inform reporters and the general public about
health access and coverage issues. For more information about

Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP)
PNHP is a nationwide organization of physicians who have spearheaded much of the evidence based policy research and advocacy on single payer health care. They have more than 15,000 members and chapters across the United States. PNHP performs ground breaking research on the health crisis and the need for fundamental reform, coordinates speakers and forums, participates in town hall meetings and debates, contributes scholarly articles to peer reviewed medical journals, and appears regularly on national television and news programs.
The film makes one of the most compelling arguments for
comprehensive health care reform by showing how the profit
motive has corrupted both the private and non-profit health care
delivery systems. The competitive pressures of this
dysfunctional system are fueling a run away train of health care
costs that are pricing basic insurance out of the reach of the
middle class and a placing drag on our economy. Health care is a
human right. For more information about PNHP, please click here.
American Patients United (APU)
American Patients United is a non-profit organization of
patients and their families who believe that access to quality
health care is a human right. We are joined together to advocate
for patients and to lead a public education campaign dedicated
to the establishment of a health care system that covers
everyone.
Founded by Donna Smith, whose story was featured in the movie
Sicko, APU is the only group that expressly advocates on behalf
of patients in the health reform movement. APU has grown to
include over 2000 members including other patients profiled in
the movie Sicko. APU leaders have testified before Congress and
been featured in national publications and news programs. For
